Military Neutralizes Two Terrorists, Recovers Arms in Kebbi Operation

Troops operating under the Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA have successfully neutralized two suspected Lakurawa terrorists during a tactical operation in Kebbi State.

The engagement took place on June 27 in the Sabarumawa axis after military intelligence identified that the group was planning a raid on the local community. In response, soldiers from the Chief of Army Staff Intervention Battalion 7 were deployed to establish a strategic ambush along the terrorists’ predicted path.

According to a military spokesperson, Lt.-Col. Aliyu Danja, the soldiers engaged the group with superior firepower as they approached the ambush site, forcing them into a chaotic retreat. While two members of the terrorist cell were killed in the exchange, others managed to escape into the nearby forest.

Following the skirmish, troops recovered a significant cache of weaponry, including AK-47 rifles, several magazines, 143 rounds of ammunition, and a motorcycle used by the militants.

Operation FANSAN YAMMA has reaffirmed its resolve to maintain offensive pressure on criminal and terrorist elements across the North-West region. The military continues to urge local residents to remain vigilant and share timely information to support ongoing counter-terrorism efforts.
