Military Pressure Forces 17 Terrorist Relatives to Surrender in Borno

Seventeen family members of the Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad terrorist group have surrendered to troops of Operation Hadin Kai in Borno State, following mounting military pressure. According to the Acting Military Information Officer for the operation, Capt. Muhammed Goni, 16 of the individuals comprising 10 women and six children voluntarily surrendered to troops of the 222 Battalion during a patrol along the Gezuwa axis in Konduga Local Government Area. A total of ₦92,000 was recovered from the group. In a separate incident on the same day, an 11-year-old minor from the group also surrendered to troops of the 202 Battalion in Bama Local Government Area. Goni noted that the individuals attributed their decision to surrender to intense operational pressure on terrorist enclaves. The surrendered persons are currently in military custody undergoing preliminary profiling and debriefing before being handed over to appropriate authorities for rehabilitation.
