Nasarawa Labour Party factional chairman raises alarm over death threats

A factional chairman of the Labour Party in Nasarawa State, Alexander Ombugu, has raised concerns over alleged threats to his life by political opponents in the state.

Ombugu disclosed this on Saturday while speaking with journalists in Lafia, the state capital. He stated that the threats may be linked to his firm stance on certain internal party matters during the recently concluded primary elections in the state.

Despite repeated questions from reporters, Ombugu declined to name those suspected of being behind the alleged threats. He explained that the details would be better shared confidentially with security agencies so as not to compromise any ongoing investigation.

He appealed to security operatives to urgently provide him with protection and to commence a thorough investigation into the matter.

Ombugu said, “The fact is that I have not done anything wrong to anyone since I joined active politics. In carrying out my duties, I have always followed the laws governing the Labour Party and our dear country, Nigeria.

“Therefore, I am appealing to the security agencies for adequate security coverage, and that proper investigation into this matter should be carried out so that my life can be protected.”
