NDLEA Intercepts Cocaine Hidden in Palm Kernel Extract Tins Bound for UK, Arrests Kingpin

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has recorded a major breakthrough in its fight against drug trafficking, intercepting a significant consignment of cocaine concealed in tins of palm kernel extract and destined for the United Kingdom.

The operation, which spanned three weeks, led to the arrest of the syndicate kingpin and two other suspects, according to the agency.

In a statement, NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, said the breakthrough began on March 11 when operatives intercepted 3.10 kilograms of cocaine at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos.

He further disclosed that a sting operation carried out on April 2 resulted in the arrest of the sender, who had been operating under a fake identity.

Babafemi noted that the agency has been intensifying intelligence-led operations at airports, courier companies, and across various states in a bid to dismantle trafficking networks targeting destinations in Europe and Asia.

The NDLEA reiterated its commitment to sustaining pressure on drug cartels and urged members of the public to remain vigilant and support the agency’s efforts with credible information.
