Nigerian Air Force Embeds Journalists in North-East Anti-Terrorism Operations

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has embedded defense correspondents within the North-East theater of Operation Hadin Kai, providing journalists with direct access to frontline counter-terrorism activities to enhance transparency and public trust.

Led by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the media tour allowed reporters to join day and night air and ground patrols, observe operational planning, interact with frontline personnel, and experience daily life alongside military units in Maiduguri, Borno State.

The initiative follows directives from Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, aimed at promoting open strategic communication and highlighting the sacrifices made by troops combating insurgency across Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa states.

During the visit, military officials highlighted the strategic use of Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft before any strike mission to ensure target precision and safeguard friendly forces and civilians. The Air Component Commander, Air Commodore M.B. Ahmed, noted that constant readiness and improved welfare measures such as specialized transport flights and upgraded feeding allocations have significantly bolstered troop morale and operational efficiency.

NAF authorities confirmed that the embedding exercise forms part of a broader federal effort to keep the public accurately informed, demonstrate inter-agency coordination, and build national confidence in the armed forces’ ongoing counter-insurgency campaign.
