Nigerian man hailed for breaking up knife fight among teenagers in London

A Nigerian man has been widely praised for risking his own safety to stop a knife fight involving three teenagers at Burgess Park in London.

Hammed Danmole, a 45-year-old property investor and father of a 17-year-old boy, said he intervened because he could not live with himself if any of the young boys lost their lives.

According to reports, Danmole was playing in his weekly Sunday league football match on May 17 when he noticed two hooded youths dressed in black enter the park. Minutes later, a third boy arrived on a scooter. An argument broke out, and two of them allegedly pulled out machetes.

While others screamed or recorded the scene on their phones, Danmole rushed in and separated the teenagers. He later told The Times that when he looked at them, he saw his own son.

The teenagers were arrested at the scene and charged with possession of bladed articles and offensive weapons in a public place. Danmole said some people questioned his decision to get involved, but he stood by his action.
