NIN Error: JAMB Reopens Correction Portal

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reopened its NIN Alignment Service, allowing eligible candidates to correct discrepancies in their biodata in collaboration with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).
The board announced the development in a post on its official X account, explaining that candidates seeking to align their records must first correct their details with NIMC before applying.
In a video shared under its JAMB Explained series, the examination body outlined the application process, the biodata fields eligible for correction and the verification procedure.
JAMB advised candidates to review their information carefully and select all the required corrections before submitting their applications.
It also warned that the opportunity is available only once and that submitting an application does not guarantee approval.
“Before you apply, take note: Correct your details with NIMC first. Review every field carefully and select all the required corrections before submission,” the board said.
The reopening provides an opportunity for eligible candidates whose National Identification Number (NIN) records contain discrepancies to seek alignment with their JAMB biodata.
JAMB urged candidates to follow the prescribed steps and consult its explanatory video to avoid mistakes during the application process.
The board did not specify in the announcement the closing date for the service or provide a detailed list of the biodata fields eligible for correction.
