Nollywood Actress Doris Ogala Released After Arrest

Nollywood actress Doris Ogala has been released from police custody after a two-day detention, she confirmed via her official Instagram account on Monday.

Ogala’s arrest, which occurred on Saturday, was linked to allegations involving prominent cleric and founder of Grace Nation Ministry, Chris Okafor. Her detention drew considerable attention across social media, prompting calls for her release from various online commentators and public figures.

In a brief post following her release, Ogala expressed gratitude to human rights activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore, as well as online personality VeryDarkMan, for their roles in securing her freedom. “Thank you, Sowore. Thanks so much to my ratel king,” she wrote.

The arrest followed several weeks of public dispute between Ogala and Okafor. Tensions emerged after a video circulated online showing Okafor’s engagement to another woman. In response, Ogala claimed she had been in a relationship with the clergyman since 2017, stating she ended her previous marriage at his encouragement.

She further accused Okafor of reneging on promises of marriage after years of involvement, later issuing an ultimatum demanding either marriage or financial compensation in the form of a house.

Despite her allegations, photographs from Okafor’s traditional and white wedding ceremonies were published online last Wednesday. The situation escalated on Friday when Ogala posted—and subsequently deleted—an image allegedly showing Okafor shirtless with a towel around his waist in a private setting.

No further details regarding the terms or basis of her release have been disclosed by authorities at this time.
