NPFL Secures $7.5m EuroMatch Sponsorship Deal, Ends Decade-Long Search for Title Partner

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has secured a three-year title sponsorship agreement worth $7.5 million with Poland-based investment firm EuroMatch Group, ending a 10-year period without a title sponsor.

The partnership, unveiled in Abuja on Wednesday ahead of the 2026/27 season kickoff, will see EuroMatch contribute $2.5 million annually to support the growth and development of Nigeria’s top-flight football league.

According to the NPFL board, 60 per cent of the annual sponsorship fee, amounting to $1.5 million, will be distributed among the league’s 20 participating clubs. The move is expected to strengthen club finances and improve player welfare.

The agreement marks the return of a title sponsor to the league for the first time since telecommunications giant Globacom ended its sponsorship in 2016. Since then, the league has operated without a headline sponsor while relying on support from multiple partners.

NPFL Chairman, Gbenga Elegbeleye, described the deal as a major milestone for Nigerian football, noting that the additional revenue would help clubs enhance player salaries and improve overall welfare.

He said the league would continue to pursue greater visibility and commercial opportunities while ensuring that clubs benefit directly from the sponsorship proceeds.

EuroMatch Group Chairman, Sadi Semih, said the company views the partnership as a strategic investment in Nigerian football and is committed to supporting the league’s growth and international profile.

The Warsaw-based company, which operates in the regulated gaming and technology sector, currently holds gaming licences in Nigeria and Kenya and is expanding into other international markets.

The 2026/27 NPFL season is set to begin on Friday, with Shooting Stars hosting newly promoted Inter Lagos in the opening fixture at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan.

The sponsorship agreement is expected to provide a significant financial boost to the league as it seeks to enhance competitiveness, attract investment, and improve the standard of professional football in Nigeria.
