NRS Alerts Public To Fake Recruitment Notice
The Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) has warned Nigerians against a fake recruitment notice being circulated online in the name of the defunct Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).
The Service raised the alarm in a public notice titled “Fraudulent Recruitment Notice”, posted on its official X.com page on Monday.
It said the notice, titled “Federal Inland Revenue Service – FIRS Job Vacancy – Replacement”, had been circulating on social media and other platforms.
According to the NRS, the purported vacancy advert claims to offer employment opportunities within the agency and asks interested applicants to submit their information to recruit@replacementnhrmt.org.
The agency said: “The NRS wishes to state categorically that the notice is fraudulent and did not emanate from the Nigeria Revenue Service.”
The Service also reminded Nigerians that the FIRS had been succeeded by the NRS.
It stated: “Accordingly, any purported recruitment notice issued in the name of FIRS should be treated with caution and independently verified.”
The NRS clarified that it had neither approved nor started the recruitment exercise mentioned in the circulating notice.
The notice read: “For the avoidance of doubt, the NRS has not authorised or commenced the recruitment exercise referenced in the notice and has not appointed or authorised any individual, agent, consultant or third party to conduct any recruitment exercise on its behalf.”
The agency urged members of the public to ignore the notice and exercise caution when responding to recruitment-related messages or links.
It said: “Any legitimate recruitment exercise undertaken by the Nigeria Revenue Service will be formally communicated through the Service’s official website and authorised communication channels.”
The NRS urged Nigerians to verify recruitment information through its official website and authorised communication channels before taking any action.
