Oluremi Tinubu Supports 250 Elderly Citizens in Ekiti with ₦200,000 Each”

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has extended financial support to 250 elderly citizens in Ekiti State, with each beneficiary receiving ₦200,000 under the Renewed Hope Initiative Social Investment Programme.

The financial support was presented at the Ekiti State Government House in Ado-Ekiti, represented by Ekiti State First Lady, Olayemi Oyebanji. This forms part of the third edition of the Elderly Support Scheme, tagged “Finding Joy in Old Age.”

According to Tinubu, the programme is being implemented simultaneously across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, with beneficiaries including veterans of the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association. A total of 9,500 elderly citizens have been selected nationwide to benefit from the scheme.

Tinubu underscored the Federal Government’s commitment to the welfare and dignity of senior citizens, noting that the Governing Board of the Renewed Hope Initiative approved the disbursement of ₦1.9 billion for the exercise. Each state, the FCT, and DEPOWA received ₦50 million.

“The initiative goes beyond financial  assistance, as it also promotes healthy and active ageing,” she said, highlighting the government’s efforts to support the elderly population.
