Ondo Police Arrest Man for Alleged Murder of His Mother in Ore

The Ondo State Police Command has taken a man identified as Samuel Akoade into custody following the alleged murder of his mother, Olufunke Akoade, in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area.

The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon at the deceased’s residence in the Powerline area of the community. According to authorities, police operatives were dispatched to the scene after receiving reports that the victim was discovered deceased with multiple severe machete wounds.

Officers from the Ore Division secured the location, recovered the weapon allegedly used in the attack, and initiated a search for the suspect, who had fled prior to their arrival. Samuel Akoade was subsequently apprehended during a follow-up operation.

Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the arrest and stated that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Akure for further investigation. The victim’s body has been deposited at a local mortuary.

State Commissioner of Police, CP Felix Ohagwu, has directed a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the killing to ensure legal proceedings are properly pursued.
