Osun Governor Promises More Support for Young Entrepreneurs

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has announced that his administration is stepping up efforts to empower young business owners and boost commercial activities across the state.

Speaking at the commissioning of a Backroom Lounge in Osogbo, the governor, represented by the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Bunmi Jenyo, noted that parts of the state capital are now experiencing a growing 24-hour economy, signaling a significant rise in business activities stimulated by the government.

A statement issued on Monday quoted the governor as saying that Osun has moved away from being purely a civil service state, with noticeable progress across various sectors and an influx of foreign investors.

He cited the example of the lounge proprietor, an indigene raised outside the state, who was encouraged to invest in Osun. The same investor had earlier opened a mini stadium in 2024, which was also commissioned by the government.

Adeleke explained that deliberate policies have made Osogbo and its environs attractive for leisure and investment, reducing the need for residents to travel to Lagos for entertainment and business.

He assured that more young people would be supported to invest in key sectors, particularly hospitality and sports, as part of efforts to create jobs and stimulate economic growth.

Meanwhile, the state government has allocated land to about 12 new industries at the revitalised Living Spring Free Trade Zone in Ede, a development expected to generate over 10,000 direct jobs and drive broader economic activity across the state.
