Over 43,000 New Voters Register in Adamawa CVR Exercise, Says INEC
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has registered 43,380 new voters in Adamawa State under its ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise as of July 7, 2026.
Data released by the Adamawa State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Alhaji Mohammed Nura, revealed that women outpaced men in the registration drive. Of the total figures recorded by July 2, 2026, female registrants accounted for 22,527, while male registrants stood at 20,853.
The primary objective of the exercise is to capture citizens who have reached the legal voting age of 18 since the last general elections. Additionally, the registration drive allows voters who have relocated to transfer their registration details to their new districts and permits those with lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to apply for replacements.
While the exercise was initially scheduled to conclude on July 7, 2026, the REC noted that an extension remains possible given the timeline before upcoming general elections. Alhaji Nura urged local political parties to actively mobilize unregistered citizens to participate, while reaffirming the commission’s commitment to delivering a transparent and seamless electoral process.
