In a heartwarming showcase of community solidarity, Oye Wellness is poised to host its annual medical outreach event on Friday, November 3rd, from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the General Hospital, Oye-Ekiti. This noble endeavor is dedicated to offering essential, complimentary medical services and healthcare support to the residents of Oye-Ekiti and its surrounding towns and villages. Among the health conditions addressed will be malaria, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, peptic ulcer disease, and arthritis, among others.
As the event approaches, the organizing committee has been diligently working to ensure the success of this community-driven mission. Notably, the President of the Oye Progressive Union (OPU), Elder Lucas Bola Oniyelu, personally delivered a formal letter to the State Health Management Board, earnestly seeking their valuable support and cooperation for the outreach. This gesture underscores the unwavering commitment of OPU to the community’s well-being.

A team of highly qualified and dedicated doctors and healthcare professionals, both local and non-local, has rallied around this cause to offer their invaluable services during the outreach. High Chief Dr. Jimi Oke takes on the role of overall supervisor, while Professor Leo Adegun serves as the coordinator. Notable specialists, including dental experts, epidemiologists, and community medicine practitioners, form part of this remarkable team. The inclusion of an epidemiologist and a medical record officer adds specialized expertise to the event, further enriching the range of services provided.
A dedicated team of nurses will be on-site to provide vital support, while the outreach will be bolstered by the presence of pharmacists and laboratory scientists, committed to ensuring the seamless delivery of healthcare services.
Furthermore, the generous contribution of a significant drug supply and exercise books by respected Oye native, Pharmacist Popoola, attests to the community’s unwavering dedication to the outreach’s success.
To ensure participants’ comfort and nourishment, a local food vendor has been enlisted to provide morning snacks and afternoon rice. Canopies, tables, and chairs have been reserved to create a welcoming environment for both healthcare professionals and patients.
The OPU has been actively mobilizing the community to ensure maximum participation and benefit from the outreach, demonstrating the power of collective action and community spirit.
This community-driven medical outreach epitomizes the collaborative efforts of healthcare professionals, dedicated volunteers, and local businesses, all working together to provide essential health services to the residents of Oye-Ekiti and its neighboring areas.
