Oyebanji Urges Christians to Emulate Christ’s Virtues, Seeks Prayers for Ekiti Governorship Poll

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has congratulated Christians in the state and across Nigeria on this year’s Easter celebration, calling on them to emulate the virtues of humility, love, perseverance, and compassion demonstrated by Jesus Christ.

In a statement issued on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, the governor noted that the death and resurrection of Christ represent the ultimate sacrifice for the redemption of mankind, which should be deeply cherished.

“I wish all the people of Ekiti State and Christians across the country and other parts of the world a happy Easter as we celebrate God’s greatest sacrifice to mankind,” Oyebanji said.

He described the events leading to Christ’s death and resurrection as epochal in Christianity and human history, adding that they serve as a reminder of the values of sacrifice, love, harmony, and peaceful coexistence.

The governor urged Christians to use the period to reflect on their relationships as individuals, communities, and a nation. “The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ typifies love, affection, and tolerance,” he said.

Oyebanji also appealed for prayers from Ekiti people and other Nigerians toward a peaceful and successful governorship election scheduled for June 20 in the state.

He admonished governorship aspirants, party leaders, politicians, and their supporters to conduct themselves peacefully before, during, and after the election, stressing that “Ekiti interest supersedes personal and partisan interests.”
