PAAU Expels Six Students for Alleged Exam Scam, Withdraws Nine Over Academic Deficiencies

Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba, has expelled six students for their involvement in an examination malpractice case linked to the unauthorized rewriting of an examination outside the university premises.

The decision was among key resolutions reached by the institution’s Senate at its 167th regular meeting, where members considered reports on disciplinary and academic matters. The Senate also approved the withdrawal of nine students for poor academic performance and failure to complete registration requirements for consecutive semesters.

The disciplinary action followed an investigation into allegations that a lecturer facilitated a special examination session for some students at a private location after the official examination had already been conducted.

A review by the university’s Examination Misconduct Committee reportedly confirmed that the students participated in the unauthorized exercise and that payments were allegedly made to gain access to the arrangement.

Based on the committee’s findings, the Senate approved the immediate expulsion of the affected students and recommended further disciplinary proceedings against the lecturer involved in the case through the appropriate staff disciplinary channel.

University authorities said the sanctions reflect the institution’s determination to preserve the integrity of its examination system and ensure strict compliance with academic regulations.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Salisu Ogbo Usman, reaffirmed the university’s commitment to academic excellence, accountability, and ethical conduct, stressing that any attempt to compromise established standards would not be tolerated.

He urged students to remain committed to their studies and adhere to institutional rules, noting that discipline and integrity remain central to the university’s values.

The expelled students have been directed to return all university property in their possession and complete the necessary exit procedures in line with institutional regulations.
