PDP Clears Kefas Ropshik for Plateau Governorship Primary

The Peoples Democratic Party has cleared a Plateau State governorship aspirant, Kefas Ropshik, to contest in the party’s primary election ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The screening exercise took place on Thursday at the PDP national secretariat in Abuja, as the main opposition party steps up preparations for the next electoral cycle.
Ropshik is seeking the party’s ticket to challenge the incumbent governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, who is expected to run for a second term.
Speaking after the exercise, the PDP chieftain described the screening as a major milestone in his governorship ambition. He reaffirmed his commitment to what he called a people-driven agenda for the state.
“The vision is clear, the resolve is unwavering, and the mission continues for my motto #PlateauFirst,” Ropshik said.
With the clearance, he will now formally contest in the PDP governorship primary, where delegates will decide the party’s flagbearer for the 2027 election in the state.
The development comes just three days after Ropshik submitted his nomination and expression of interest forms at the party’s national headquarters. He arrived at the secretariat in an all-white kaftan and matching cap, accompanied by a large crowd of supporters, signaling growing momentum around his campaign.
