Pedestrian Dies After Being Hit by Bus in Ogun
A pedestrian lost his life on Sunday evening after being struck by a Toyota Coaster bus along the Imowo-Ibadan Road, near Ijebu Ode in Ogun State.
The incident occurred around 4:45 pm and caused heavy traffic congestion on the route, as the bus blocked part of the road.
According to eyewitnesses, the man attempted to cross the road without checking the opposite lane. The accident happened on a stretch where road rehabilitation works are ongoing, forcing vehicles to divert into a single lane outward Ijebu Ode.
Emergency responders, including operatives of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency and police officers from the Obalende Division, were deployed to the scene to manage traffic and carry out rescue efforts.
No other injuries were recorded. The body of the deceased was taken to the General Hospital mortuary in Ijebu Ode. The bus involved was later removed from the road and moved to the Police Area Command in Igbeba for further investigation.
Traffic flow was restored along the corridor after the evacuation.
