Planned Cult Initiation Thwarted in Ondo, 25 Suspects Held

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested 25 suspected cult members during an initiation ceremony in Uso, Owo Local Government Area.

A statement from the command’s spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, on Sunday said the suspects, belonging to the Neo Black Movement, were apprehended on January 8 following a tip-off about the planned initiation.

Operatives mobilized on the intelligence and disrupted the event, arresting individuals from Ondo, Osun, Edo, and Lagos states. A Toyota Highlander SUV and an unregistered motorcycle were recovered from the scene.

The police stated the suspects have confessed to cult-related activities and will be charged to court after investigation. The State Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, commended the operatives and reiterated the command’s commitment to fighting cultism, urging youths to avoid such groups.
