Police Apprehend Three Notorious ‘Shilla’ Gang Members in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested three suspected members of a notorious criminal gang believed to be terrorizing residents of the state capital, Yola, and its surrounding communities.

The suspects, identified as Abdulmalik Mohammad (22), Abba Mustapha (21), and Ibrahim Yusuf (22), were apprehended by operatives attached to the D15 unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) during a targeted, intelligence-led operation.

According to a statement released on Thursday by the command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the arrests are part of a sustained crackdown on “Shilla” gangsterism and other violent crimes in the state.

During the raid, police operatives recovered an assortment of dangerous weapons and suspected banned substances from the trio. Preliminary investigations suggest the suspects have direct links to the localized criminal activities of Shilla boys gangs known for robbing and assaulting residents within the metropolitan area.

The suspects are currently facing allegations of criminal conspiracy, unlawful possession of dangerous weapons, and possession of illicit substances.

The Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, Kabir Hassan, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intensifying raids against violent cults and criminal syndicates threatening public safety. He urged members of the community to continue providing timely information to law enforcement to assist in maintaining security.

Authorities confirmed that the suspects will be arraigned in court as soon as the ongoing investigations are finalized.
