Police Arrest 81 Suspects and Recover Illicit Drugs in Delta State Sweep

Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested 81 suspects and seized illicit substances following coordinated raids on criminal hotspots across the Asaba metropolis.

The operation, led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations alongside tactical squads, targeted key flashpoints to disrupt criminal networks. Among those taken into custody were 50 males and 31 females apprehended for various offenses, including the possession and sale of illegal drugs, as well as mounting an unauthorized checkpoint near the Asaba-Onitsha Head Bridge.

Items recovered during the raids included large quantities of Tramadol and cannabis. Additionally, security operatives impounded five vehicles for violations such as operating illegal taxi parks and serving as hubs for drug distribution along Okpanam Road.

Police authorities emphasized that the intelligence-led sweep is part of ongoing efforts to prevent crime and secure the state, warning that investigations are continuing while suspects remain in custody.
