Police Arrest Fake Medical Practitioner in Ibadan

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a suspected fake doctor operating an unlicenced medical facility in Ibadan.

The spokesperson for the command, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.

According to the PPRO, the suspect Benjamin Adeniyi, has been operating a hospital named “LIFE IS GOOD” with branches in Olodo and Academy Areas of Ibadan and providing fertility treatment to patients.

The suspect confessed to have been operating as a quack practitioner for about seven years despite not being a medical doctor.

“The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 45-year-old man, Adeniyi Benjamin, over alleged quack medical practice and the operation of an unlicensed medical facility in the Olodo area of Ibadan,” the statement read.

“The suspect was arrested on 2 October 2026 at about 1500hrs by operatives of the Command Monitoring Unit, following credible intelligence received concerning his activities at Life Is Good Hospital, Olodo Area, Ibadan.

“Acting on the intelligence, the operatives proceeded to the facility, where the suspect was found attending to patients and administering treatments, particularly fertility-related treatments, despite not being a certified medical doctor.

“During the operation, several items were recovered from the establishment, including two weighing scales, four Quantum Magnetic Resonance Body Analysers, one stethoscope, one large carton containing assorted medicines, and specimen bottles.

“During preliminary investigation, the suspect confessed to have been operating as a quack practitioner for about seven years and stated that he had been doing so despite not being a medical doctor and without possessing any licence whatsoever to practise medicine.

“He further stated that he specialises in fertility-related treatment, which he had been administering to patients at the facility.

“The confession has further raised concerns over the potential risks to members of the public who may unknowingly seek medical treatment from unqualified practitioners, particularly in sensitive areas such as fertility care.

“The Command therefore strongly advises members of the public to verify the professional credentials and registration status of anyone offering medical services before entrusting their health or that of their loved ones to such persons.

“Similarly, residents are encouraged to promptly report suspicious medical facilities or persons presenting themselves as medical practitioners without verifiable credentials to the Police or relevant regulatory authorities.

“Such timely information can assist in preventing unsuspecting members of the public from falling victim to unqualified practitioners.

“Consequently, investigation is ongoing to establish the full extent of the suspect’s activities and determine whether other persons are connected to the operation of the facility, after which appropriate action will be taken in accordance with the law.

“The Oyo State Police Command remains committed to protecting lives and property and will continue to collaborate with relevant regulatory agencies and members of the public to identify and address activities capable of endangering the health and safety of residents.”
