Police Arrest Pastor, Islamic Cleric for Alleged Possession of Human Parts in Oyo

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested two religious leaders a 55-year-old pastor, Ayodele Taiwo, and a 46-year-old Islamic cleric, Alfa Onaolapo Taiwo for allegedly possessing and purchasing suspected human parts.

A third suspect, Oyategbe Joseph, was also taken into custody after he was intercepted by a police patrol team while reportedly transporting the remains on a motorcycle.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, said the arrests followed a stop-and-search operation along the Adekile area of Agugu in Ibadan. Officers stopped an unregistered Bajaj Boxer motorcycle and, upon searching the rider, recovered a package containing flesh suspected to be human intestine.

During interrogation, Joseph allegedly confessed to sourcing the items from an unidentified person in the Oritaperin area of Ibadan and selling them to the two clerics.

Acting on that information, police apprehended the pastor and the Alfa, both of whom reportedly admitted to purchasing the suspected human parts.

The Commissioner of Police has ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further investigation. All suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of the inquiry.

The command urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies to ensure public safety.
