Police Arrest Three in Osun Over Exhumed Human Skull

The Osun State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the exhumation and illegal possession of a human skull taken from a family grave.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Ojelabi, confirmed the arrests on Friday, detailing that the investigation began after a resident reported the desecration of his late brother’s grave on June 17. The complainant stated that he had visited the family compound on June 15 and discovered that the grave had been tampered with and the skull removed.

Following an investigation and credible intelligence, police apprehended a 40-year-old suspect, identified as Ogunsola Ojo. During interrogation, Ojo reportedly implicated three other individuals: Ayeloja Lattef, Azeez Rasheed, and a fourth suspect identified as Kunle Fatai.

A subsequent search of Fatai’s residence led authorities to an uncompleted building nearby, where they recovered a human skull concealed by the suspects. The skull has since been documented and processed as evidence.

While three suspects are currently in police custody, authorities confirmed that Kunle Fatai remains at large. The Command has stated that an active search is underway to locate the fugitive, and all apprehended individuals will be charged in court once the investigation is concluded.
