Police Neutralise 2 Kidnappers, Rescue Victim in Rivers State
Rivers State Police Command has announced the neutralization of two suspected kidnappers and the rescue of a female victim in a daring operation along Ozuaha Road in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state.
According to the command, the operatives of the Anti-Cultism Unit acted on credible intelligence and stormed the hideout of the kidnappers, who opened fire on them. The police returned fire, overpowering the suspects, and rescued the victim who had been abducted on December 5, 2025.
The police spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, revealed in a statement that the kidnappers had demanded a ransom of ₦1.2 million from the victim’s family, threatening to kill her if the payment was not made promptly. The family reported the incident to the police, leading to the swift mobilization and execution of the rescue operation.
The statement read, “The Rivers State Police Command, in its sustained efforts to combat kidnapping and armed robbery in the state, has recorded a major breakthrough. Operatives attached to the Anti-Cultism Unit, Emohua Annexe, acting on credible intelligence, successfully rescued a kidnapped female victim of Omademe Community.”
The police operatives found the suspects sharing the ransom when they raided the hideout. A gun battle ensued, resulting in the neutralization of two suspects, while others escaped with gunshot wounds.
The command’s efforts demonstrate its commitment to combating crime in the state, and the rescued victim is safe. The police continue to track the fleeing suspects, and investigations are ongoing.
