Police Service Commission Deploys Monitoring Team to Osun Ahead of Governorship Election

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has dispatched a dedicated monitoring delegation to Osun State to oversee the conduct of security personnel during the upcoming governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026.

Led by retired DIG Taiwo Lakanu, Chairman of the PSC Standing Committee on Police Matters, the team is tasked with monitoring the thousands of officers on election duty to ensure strict compliance with standard operational codes and professional standards.

The deployment aims to reinforce public trust and safeguard the integrity of the electoral process as 14 political parties prepare to compete at the polls.

Commission officials confirmed that the delegation will observe police conduct before, during, and after the voting process, emphasizing that all deployed personnel must remain completely apolitical, civil, and rule-based in their operations.

The PSC issued a strong warning that strict disciplinary sanctions will be applied to any officer found engaging in misconduct, compromise, or actions that threaten the credibility of the election.

With 15,000 police officers deployed across the state to maintain security, the monitoring team will focus on ensuring that voters can exercise their franchise freely and without intimidation in a safe environment.
