Police Service Commission schedules promotion exam for 13 commissioners to AIG rank

The Police Service Commission has scheduled a promotion examination for 13 Commissioners of Police seeking elevation to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police.
According to an internal police wireless message dated June 9, 2026, the examination will hold on Monday, June 15, 2026, at the conference room of the PSC chairman on the 6th floor of the commission’s corporate headquarters in Jabi, Abuja. The exercise is set to begin at 8:00 a.m. and will include both written and oral components.
The Inspector-General of Police has directed that the affected officers be released to participate in the exercise. The officers listed include Commissioners Obono Nnaghe Itam, Bassey Samuel Ewah, Osagie John Agans-Irabor, Monday Agbonika, Iyamah Daniel Edobor, Isah Danladi Nda, Akaniyene Ifebem Ezima, Livingstein Ikioye Orutugu, Bello Rashid Afegbua, Hycenth Azuka Edozie, Haruna Alaba Yahaya, Innocent Ifeanyi Emenari, and Betty Enekpen Otimenyin.
Candidates have been advised to refresh their knowledge in core policing duties, professional studies, law, and local legislation. The dress code requires them to appear in black jackets, berets, and with swagger canes.
The police command has also ordered the deployment of 12 armed policemen for escort duties and the provision of two serviceable Hilux vans to convey senior officers to and from the venue. Vehicles are to be positioned at the Force Headquarters Parade Ground by 6:00 a.m. on the day of the exercise.
