Power disruption affects Abuja, Nasarawa communities

A power outage disrupted electricity supply to several parts of the Federal Capital Territory and Nasarawa State on Wednesday following a technical fault on a key transmission line.

The incident, which occurred on the Transmission Company of Nigeria’s 132kV Apo–Karu Line 1, led to a drop in bulk power supply to the affected zones.

Areas hit by the blackout include Karu, Nyanya, Jikwoyi, Kurudu, Orozo, Karshi, Mararaba, Ado, New Nyanya, New Karu, Uke, Masaka, Auta Balaifi, Keffi, Nasarawa Toto, Akwanga, Nasarawa Eggon, and surrounding communities.

Efforts to restore electricity are underway, with technical teams working to resolve the fault. Power is expected to be back by 3:00 pm on Wednesday, according to an update from the electricity distribution company serving the region.

The outage adds to ongoing challenges in Nigeria’s power sector, where generation and distribution often fall short of demand.
