Presidency Labels ‘PFIPC’ Scandal a Fraud, Exposes Forgery in Appointment Documents
The Presidency has dismissed the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) as a total scam, citing glaring inconsistencies in the documents used by its alleged operator, Adeniyi Adeyemi, to claim legitimacy.
Temitope Ajayi, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, explained during an interview on Arise Television on Friday that a missing contact telephone number on the genuine State House letterhead exposed the fraud. According to Ajayi, the forged appointment letter brandished by Adeyemi included a phone number that does not appear on official presidential stationery.
“Anybody who understands how the system works will know this is a pure scam and a forged document,” Ajayi stated, adding that presidential appointments do not originate from the Chief of Staff’s office. He clarified that the Chief of Staff only conveys presidential approvals to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), who is solely responsible for issuing formal appointment letters.
Adeyemi, who is currently facing an eight-count charge of conspiracy, forgery, and impersonation at the Federal High Court in Abuja, was arrested in October 2025 at his office within the Federal Secretariat Complex. Investigators have linked him to 34 bank accounts tied to various non-existent government entities.
While Adeyemi maintains that his appointment was legitimate, he has leveled counter-allegations against Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, accusing him of demanding kickbacks a claim the Presidency has firmly rejected. Presidential aides have since characterized Adeyemi as a “con artist” who exploited the government’s internal processes to facilitate his scheme.
The Presidency has not ruled out the possibility of internal collaborators, acknowledging that Adeyemi’s audacity to operate from the Federal Secretariat suggests potential breaches within government institutions. The case, which involves allegations of a ₦24 billion budget for the nonexistent agency, is set to continue on July 27, 2026.
