Presidency Reacts to Viral Video of Tinubu Reciting Old National Anthem at FEC

The presidency has described a viral video of President Bola Tinubu, ministers, and other attendees reciting the old national anthem at a Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting as outdated.
In the video that has become a growing sensation, the moment was captured when the anthem was being recited right after the President entered the venue and greeted everyone with ‘good afternoon.’
The old anthem starts with “Arise O’ Compatriots,” while the new national anthem begins with “Nigeria, we hail thee.”
Responding to the video online, Segun Dada, President Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Social Media via the microblogging platform, X formerly Twitter on Tueday, said that the video was from a 2023/2024 FEC meeting.
Giving details of the video, Segun wrote, “This video has the former Hon Minister of State for Environment, Dr Iziaq Salako at the 0:22 minutes. He resigned due to health reasons in October 2024.
“It also listed the HM, Ministry of Niger Delta Ministry, a ministry that was dissolved on October 2024.
“The new national anthem became official on May 29th, 2024.
“Verdict: This video was from a 2023/2024 FEC meeting.
“We are unlucky to have these lots as the source of journalism in Nigeria when they keep working hard everyday to make a mess of the noble profession.”
