President Tinubu to Unveil Commemorative Book Marking First Anniversary of Late President Buhari’s Passing
President Bola Tinubu is set to unveil a commemorative book in honor of former President Muhammadu Buhari, as preparations intensify for the first-anniversary memorial of his passing.
The announcement was made on Wednesday by the Chairman of the Central Planning Committee and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, during a press briefing regarding the upcoming memorial activities.
Former President Buhari, who led Nigeria from 2015 to 2023, passed away on July 13, 2025, at the age of 82.
According to Mustapha, the event scheduled for July 13 will gather family, friends, close associates, and public officials to pay tribute to the late leader. The program is designed to honor his legacy and reflect on his commitment to national unity, faith, and service.
“The commemorative event will bring together the family he left behind, his friends and associates, public officials, and well-wishers, to remember his life and to offer prayers and supplications for the repose of his soul,” Mustapha stated.
The memorial will feature interfaith and interdenominational prayers. Additionally, several individuals who worked closely with the former president are expected to share personal reflections on his character and his impact on the nation.
A central feature of the event will be the presentation of a book titled *Tributes and Condolences in Honour of Muhammadu Buhari*. President Tinubu will serve as the Special Guest of Honour for the unveiling. Mustapha noted that the publication, which includes contributions from global leaders and diplomats, highlights the late president’s reputation for integrity and simplicity.
The committee emphasized that the book is intended for free distribution to the public and is not being sold or used for fundraising purposes.
In concluding his address, Mustapha encouraged Nigerians to join in prayers for the late president at their respective places of worship, expressing hope that the anniversary will serve as a moment of national reflection and provide comfort to the family and associates left behind.
