Protest rocks Plateau LG After Gov Muftwang declares 24-hour curfew
Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State was thrown into confusion on Tuesday following a protest by youths, who burnt houses and destroyed properties over what they tagged ‘silent killings’ by gunmen suspected to be killer herdsmen in the council.
Governor Caleb Muftwang has subsequently declared a 24-hour curfew in the local government to halt the deteriorating security situation.
It was gathered that the protesters were, however, attacked by some hoodlums, and the confrontation eventually resulted in the burning of houses, including places of worship.
Governor Muftwang on on Tuesday declared a 24-hour curfew on the local government.
He urged all citizens, especially residents of Mangu Local Government, to comply with the directive and assist the security personnel by providing reliable information to restore peace and order in the area.
All efforts to speak with the spokesman for the Plateau State police command, DSP Alfred, were unsuccessful as he could not be reached on his phone
