Schoolgirls’ abduction: Matawalle arrives Kebbi to oversee rescue
The Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Muhammad Matawalle, has arrived in Kebbi State to coordinate efforts aimed at rescuing the 25 schoolgirls abducted from Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga.
Matawalle’s arrival follows a directive from President Bola Tinubu, who on Thursday ordered the minister to relocate to Kebbi and remain there until the students are safely recovered.
The minister’s presence is intended to strengthen coordination among security agencies and ensure a swift rescue operation.
Matawalle landed at Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport, Birnin Kebbi on Friday, according to a statement by his Personal Assistant on Media, Ahmad Dan-Wudil.
The statement reaffirmed that Matawalle would oversee security operations in the state to secure the safe release of the abducted schoolgirls.
