Screening: Benue APC Disqualifies 20 State Assembly Aspirants

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State has released the report of its State House of Assembly Screening Committee, disqualifying more than 20 aspirants from participating in the party’s primaries ahead of the 2027 Benue State House of Assembly elections.

APC Benue aspirants barred from primaries was announced in a report issued by the screening committee led by Chairman Dr. Auwalu Ishiye and Secretary Barr. Tijani Abdullahi, citing non-compliance with the party’s guidelines and constitution as the basis for the decision.

The committee stressed that the affected aspirants failed to meet required standards during the screening exercise, leading to their exclusion from the forthcoming primaries.

Party officials called on all disqualified aspirants to accept the outcome in good faith and urged members of the APC in Benue State to remain united as preparations intensify for the 2027 general elections.

Among those affected by the APC Benue aspirants disqualification are candidates drawn from multiple constituencies across the state, including Katsina-Ala, Oju, Makurdi, Gboko, Ukum, Buruku, Apa, Agatu, Kwande, and Gwer West.

The development is expected to reshape internal party dynamics as the APC continues its preparations for what is anticipated to be a highly competitive election cycle in Benue State.

Party stakeholders have reiterated the importance of discipline and adherence to internal party rules as key to maintaining cohesion and electoral strength ahead of the polls.
