Six Dead as Gas Truck Explodes at Kogi Military Checkpoint

A devastating explosion involving a gas-laden truck at a military checkpoint along the Abuja-Lokoja Federal Highway in Kogi State has claimed the lives of at least six people. The incident, which occurred on Tuesday night within the Chikara Division area, triggered an immediate emergency response from the police, the Motor Traffic Division, and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
According to eyewitness accounts, the truck carrying gas cylinders caught fire and exploded as it approached the Army checkpoint. The resulting inferno quickly spread to three other nearby trucks, completely destroying them. The victims of the tragedy include the driver of the gas truck and his assistant, alongside the drivers and assistants of the other affected vehicles.
Emergency responders have evacuated the remains of the deceased to the General Hospital in Abaji. The burnt wreckage has since been cleared from the highway to restore the flow of traffic. Official comments from the Kogi State Police Command regarding the incident are still pending.
