Sokoto: Hisbah Raids Suspected Brothel, Arrests 11 men and women

The Sokoto State Hisbah Board has arrested 11 individuals, including men and women, in a suspected brothel in Sokoto City’s Cilma ward.

The operation, part of “OPERATION TSAFTACE BIRNI SHEHU”, aimed to curb immoral activities in the state.

The raid carried out on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 followed a tip-off from the community.

Hisbah officials also shut down the brothel for further investigation.

Acting Hisbah Commander, Imam Sirajo Abubakar, who led the operation, emphasized the commission’s commitment to eradicating immoral activities, warning perpetrators to desist or face consequences.

The public praised the effort, calling for more such operations.

The arrested individuals will face charges under Sharia law.

The board urged citizens to report suspicious activities.
