Soludo Commends President Tinubu Over Approval of Key South-East Road Projects

Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has lauded President Bola Tinubu for his intentional approach to addressing longstanding infrastructural deficits in the South-East through critical transport projects. The governor described the Federal Government’s latest directive to design and procure two major federal highways as a historic milestone aimed at revitalizing regional connectivity and healing historical wounds.

Expressing his appreciation publicly on Thursday, Soludo highlighted the strategic importance of the Otuocha–Anam–Abaji Road, which will connect Anambra State directly to Kogi State, and the Oba–Nnewi–Uga–Ihube Road, designed to link Anambra and Imo states to the Enugu Port Harcourt Expressway. According to the governor, these specific routes are critical transit links that will transform economic engagement between the South-East, South-South, and North-Central regions of the country.

The approval followed a high-level meeting between Governor Soludo and President Tinubu in early July, which prompted the Minister of Works, David Umahi, to request the technical specifics of the discussed routes. Within two weeks of submitting the documentation, the presidency formally cleared both projects for the procurement phase. Soludo emphasized that this swift development underscores the concrete benefits of constructive collaboration and strategic cross-regional alliances in governance, rather than political friction.
