Stop addressing me as ‘bro’ or ‘blood’ – Young Ondo monarch warns public
Oba Oloyede Adekoya, the Arujale-Ojime of Okeluse Kingdom in Ondo State, has told the public to address him as ‘His Royal Majesty’.
The monarch’s chief of staff, Prince Adefemi Olorunfemi, said in a statement on Friday that informal terms like “bro” or “blood” will no longer be accepted. He added that anyone who addresses the king casually will face consequences.
Prince Olorunfemi also said that the king’s age should not be a reason for using informal language.
“His Royal Majesty is regarded as the youngest king in Yorubaland, but that does not permit any form of disrespect,” he said.
“Regardless of age, status, or social standing, respect for the king is non-negotiable. The throne he occupies is sacred.”
The palace asked residents of Okeluse Kingdom and the public to act in ways that show respect for the monarchy, saying that respect for the king is an important part of Yoruba tradition.
Oba Oloyede Adekoya became king at age 16 after his father, the previous monarch, passed away.
As the only son of four children, tradition required him to take his father’s place as king.
The kingmakers chose him as the new ruler, and the Ondo State Government later approved this decision
