Tinubu Meets Labour Leaders Amid Nationwide Protest Plans
President Bola Tinubu met with leaders of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) on Tuesday night at the State House in Abuja, amidst plans by organised labour to stage a nationwide protest over unresolved demands.
The meeting, which aimed to address growing tensions between the Federal Government and labour unions, focused on issues related to workers’ welfare, the rising cost of living, and the implementation of previously agreed concessions.
According to a statement by the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to the President, Bayo Onanuga, key stakeholders were present at the meeting, including the chairman of Progressive Governors Forum, Hope Uzodimma, Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, Governor of Kebbi State, Dr Nasir Idris, and the Minister of State Labour, Honourable Nkeiruka Onyejeocha.
The NLC was represented by its national leadership, who engaged in discussions with President Tinubu on the pressing issues affecting workers and the labour movement.
