Tiv Day: Protect Tiv Culture for Posterity – Tinubu
President Bola Tinubu has sent a message of solidarity to the Tiv people of Benue State as they celebrated the annual Tiv Day, emphasizing the importance of preserving cultural heritage and promoting national cohesion. Speaking through Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, Tinubu highlighted the significance of culture in shaping identity and strengthening a sense of belonging.
The President praised the Tiv people for their contributions to Nigeria’s growth and development, as well as their bravery during the civil war. He also commended the Tor Tiv, His Royal Majesty, Professor James Ayatse, for his leadership and prayed for his longevity, sound health, and divine wisdom.
Tinubu reiterated his administration’s focus on economic reforms, infrastructure expansion, social advancement, food sufficiency, employment generation, and transparent governance. He called on Tiv and Benue political leaders to unite and collaborate for peace and development.
The Tor Tiv expressed gratitude to Tinubu for his support and acknowledged Governor Hyacinth Alia’s efforts in making the celebration possible. He urged attendees to heal from past wounds and expressed confidence in Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Initiative to bring peace to Benue State.
