Tragedy at EKSU: Frontrunner for Registrar Position Slumps and Dies During Aptitude Test

The Ekiti State University (EKSU) community has been plunged into mourning following the sudden and tragic death of Deputy Registrar Dr. Solomon Oluwasola Afolabi, who died on Tuesday during a promotional examination.
Dr. Afolabi was actively participating in a screening aptitude test for the vacant position of University Registrar when the incident occurred. According to campus sources, the senior administrator suddenly cried out in distress and collapsed midway through the exercise, startling fellow candidates and invigilators.
University officials immediately rushed Dr. Afolabi to the EKSU Health Centre for emergency medical intervention. However, despite the efforts of medical personnel, he was pronounced dead at the facility.
The unexpected nature of his death has left colleagues and university staff in deep shock. Insiders revealed that Dr. Afolabi was highly regarded within the institution and was widely considered a leading candidate to secure the prestigious Registrar role. Other prominent contenders remaining in the selection process include Dr. J.E.T. Babatola and Mrs. R.T.B. Adeojo.
At the time of this report, the EKSU management had not yet released an official statement regarding the incident or the future of the selection proceedings.
