Troops Disrupt Terrorist Logistics Chain, Recover Canoes in Zamfara

Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have intercepted three disassembled canoes allegedly meant for terrorist operations in Zamfara State, disrupting a planned logistics network aimed at improving the movement of armed groups across riverine communities.

The operation was carried out following intelligence reports indicating that the canoes were being transported from Kebbi State to Zamfara for use by suspected terrorists operating in the area.

Security sources said the canoes were intended to help the criminals navigate waterways and bypass natural barriers that had limited their movement. Acting on the information, troops launched a targeted operation and intercepted the items before they reached their destination.

The suspects conveying the canoes reportedly abandoned the equipment and fled upon noticing the presence of security personnel.

The recovered canoes have been secured, while efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend those involved in the attempted transportation.

Military authorities described the interception as a major setback for terrorist elements seeking to strengthen their operational capabilities. They noted that intelligence-led operations continue to play a vital role in disrupting criminal networks and preventing attacks on vulnerable communities.

Security forces reaffirmed their commitment to dismantling terrorist logistics chains and restricting the movement of armed groups across the region. Residents were also encouraged to continue sharing credible information with security agencies to support ongoing efforts to improve safety and protect lives and property.
