Troops rescue two kidnapped victims in Kwara operation

Troops of the Nigerian Army, operating under the Joint Task Force in the North Central region, have rescued two civilians who were abducted in Kwara State.

The rescue took place during a clearance mission along the Gidan Dogo Ekaa axis, according to a statement released by the army on Saturday.

The operation was part of ongoing efforts to rid the North Central zone of criminal elements, the military said.

The statement explained that soldiers from Patrol Base Babasango, part of Operation SAVANNAH SHIELD, conducted an aggressive fighting patrol on June 3, 2026, when they encountered and secured the victims who had managed to escape from their captors.

The rescued individuals were identified as Temitope Samuel, 42, and Mohammed Sani, 40. They were taken into protective custody and transferred to Patrol Base Babanla, where they are receiving medical care and psychological support.

The army noted that arrangements are underway to reunite the victims with their families.

It reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property through sustained, intelligence-led operations, while urging the public to continue providing credible information to support security efforts.
