Turkey has formally requested to be added to Nigeria’s electronic visa platform to facilitate easier travel and enhance business and diplomatic exchanges between the two countries.

The appeal was made by Turkey’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Mehmet Poroy, during a meeting with the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in Abuja on Tuesday. The ambassador highlighted the logistical difficulty faced by Turkish applicants, who currently must travel to Ankara due to the absence of a Nigerian visa office in Istanbul.

The discussion also addressed the recognition of Nigerian marriage certificates, with the minister clarifying their legal validity. Both sides agreed to maintain dialogue to strengthen bilateral cooperation.

The request aligns with ongoing efforts to deepen economic and diplomatic relations between Nigeria and Turkey, focusing on improving mobility for business and investment.
