Two Eko DisCo Workers Electrocuted In Lagos Island

Two officials of the Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) have been electrocuted in the Obalende area of Lagos.

The spokesperson of the Lagos police command, Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed that the incident was reported on Saturday by another member of the electricity company.

Hundeyin identified one of the victims as Umaru, who was said to have been electrocuted while digging to locate a faulty transformer cable at the P&T Obalende area.

He said another victim, Sunday Awaruwa, who tried to rescue Umaru, was also electrocuted.

Awaruwa was 48 years old, while Umaru was 51 years of age at the time they both got electrocuted.

Hundeyin said the remains of the deceased have been deposited at the IDH Morgue, Yaba, for autopsy.

“Meanwhile, the investigation is in progress,” the Lagos police spokesperson said.

“Based on the report, detectives visited and photographed the scene, rescued the victims, and rushed them to the Lagos Island General Hospital where they were confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.”
