Two Nigerians Arrested in Delhi for Cocaine Trafficking

Two Nigerian nationals, Chijioke Wisdom and Chigozie, have been arrested in South Delhi for trafficking cocaine and other psychotropic substances, police said on Sunday night.

The duo was apprehended in the Maidan Garhi area following specific intelligence received on April 27 that two men were arriving in the locality to supply drugs. Acting on the tip-off, police intercepted the suspects riding a scooter.

During a search of the suspects, authorities recovered 102 grammes of cocaine, classified as a commercial quantity, along with 13 grammes of MDMA and 85 grammes of methaqualone, which falls under the intermediate quantity category.

Wisdom, 26, and Chigozie, 43, were found to be residing in India without valid visas. Police records show that Wisdom had previously been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act in a 2025 case registered at the Hazrat Nizamuddin police station. His accomplice, Chigozie, was earlier involved in an attempted murder case in 2014 registered at the Dabri Mor police station.

Both suspects, who originally lived in Lagos and Owerri in Imo State, respectively, have now been charged under relevant sections of the NDPS Act at the Maidan Garhi police station. Police have indicated that further investigation is underway to trace the supply chain and identify possible links of the accused.
