Two Policemen Die in Imo State Road Accident

The Imo State Police Command has confirmed the death of two officers following a tragic road accident that occurred on Monday, June 29, 2026.

The incident involved seven police operatives who were on official duty along the Amakalu–Umuelemma Road in the Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of the state. According to a statement released by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Henry Okoye, the two officers succumbed to their injuries while receiving medical treatment.

The remaining five personnel involved in the crash are currently undergoing medical care. The Command has stated that it is providing all necessary support to ensure the injured officers receive the required treatment for a full recovery.

The Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, Audu Garba Bosso, expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing the deaths as a significant blow to the Force. In his statement, the Commissioner extended his condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of the deceased, honoring the dedication shown by the officers while in the line of duty.

The Command has launched a formal investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the accident. Authorities have asked for public support and prayers for the families of the deceased and for the recovery of the surviving officers. The identities of those involved have not yet been released.
