US-Based Paediatrician Joins Ogun Governorship Race on ADC Ticket
A United States-based physician and board-certified paediatrician, Dr Bolaji Odusina, has declared her intention to contest the 2027 Ogun State governorship election under the platform of the African Democratic Congress.
Odusina, who recently announced her ambition to succeed Governor Dapo Abiodun, told journalists in Abeokuta on Saturday that she had consulted widely before choosing the ADC, which she said aligns with her vision of inclusive and people-centred governance.
Acknowledging the dominance of the All Progressives Congress in the state, she expressed confidence that political underdogs could still emerge victorious, describing the contest as a David-and-Goliath scenario.
The paediatrician criticised the APC’s governance style, which she described as leaving residents disappointed and yearning for a new direction. She argued that token gestures do not solve systemic problems and called for leadership focused on fixing roads, healthcare, education, jobs, security, and infrastructure.
Odusina maintained that the 2027 election would not be determined by money or political influence but by ideas, character, competence, and trust.
Under her campaign mantra, D-Doc 2027, she proposed a 12-point agenda that includes 24-hour grassroots healthcare services, free and compulsory basic education, job creation through industrialisation, agricultural development, and youth and women empowerment.
A native of Ijebu-Igbo in Ogun East Senatorial District, Odusina said her decision to run was driven by a passion to improve healthcare and social well-being, particularly in rural communities, drawing from her experience leading free medical outreaches across underserved areas in the state.
