VIDEO: Trump Claims U.S. “Annihilating” Terrorists Targeting Christians in Nigeria
U.S. President Donald Trump has asserted that his administration is forcefully confronting militants responsible for killing Christians in Nigeria. He made the remarks on Thursday during the launch of his proposed international “Board of Peace.”
“We’re annihilating terrorists who are killing Christians. We’ve hit them very hard. They’ve killed thousands and thousands of Christians,” Trump stated.
The comments echo strong criticism he voiced in November, when he described the violence as a “genocide” and called the Nigerian government’s response a “disgrace.” During a radio interview highlighted by Fox News, Trump accused Nigeria of failing to curb extremist violence and warned that the U.S. could cut off aid.
“We give a lot of subsidies to Nigeria. We’re going to end up stopping,” he said at the time, also reiterating a threat of possible U.S. military intervention if protection for Christian communities does not improve.
The U.S. designated Nigeria a “Country of Particular Concern” last year over alleged religious persecution. In December 2025, the U.S. military conducted strikes against Islamic State-linked camps in Nigeria’s northwest, which Trump later described as “a Christmas present.” Both U.S. and Nigerian officials confirmed militants were killed in the operations.
